Integration Details
Within this integration, candidate data is pulled from ADP and assessment status and assessment results are pushed into ADP. Add data exchanges are event-based occur every 15 minutes.
ADP Workforce Now Next Generation Recruitment users can initiate pre-employment assessments for an applicant by changing the applicant status to a special status code (or codes) that is agreed upon between the client and HR Avatar. HR Avatar will automatically monitor the clients' ADP account for applicants who are placed in this status.
When an applicant with the appropriate status is detected, HR Avatar will automatically email an assessment invitation to the applicant. This will be noted in an update to ADP.
The applicant opens the invitation email and completes the assessment. After the assessment is completed, HR Avatar will post the overall score and a link to view detailed results to ADP Workforce Now Next Generation. You must be a client of ADP Workforce Now Next Generation Recruitment to use the integration.
ADP Workforce Now Next Generation clients who don't have the Recruitment module can use ADP Single Sign-On to access HR Avatar by choosing the Single-Sign-On edition.

How we use AI
- HR Avatar embeds Artificial intelligence (AI) into its products in various ways. These applications are either “supportive” or “direct.”
- In supportive applications, such as speech-to-text, automatic translation, voice synthesis, and facial recognition, AI is used as a tool that assists our system in preparing and presenting information or media. The AI makes the result or product more presentable or convenient, but does not materially change the product itself, or its value.
- Direct applications of AI use machine learning software to compute numeric information changes or produce assessment results. These applications do affect the product and its value to employers. Since these assessment results can be used in employment decisions, such as hiring selection, or promotion, it’s important to understand how they work.
HR Avatar uses AI in “direct” applications in the following ways:
A. Essay scoring
B. Evaluating written or transcribed text to estimate personality factors
C. Evaluating recorded speech for attributes that indicate how it is perceived by others
In each of these cases, machine learning algorithms are used to analyze inputs from the candidate or test taker and compare them using models developed from carefully prepared training datasets to produce results.
- For essay scoring, a model was created for each essay question by collecting more than 200 essay samples and analyzing them using multiple human raters to create a training set. For personality factor evaluation, more than 10,000 known and scientifically documented statement–personality relationships were collected from various sources to create the training set. For speech analysis, more than 100,000 voice samples were analyzed by human raters against various factors to create the training set.
In each case, HR Avatar does not produce any recommendations for hiring or promotion decisions. The results are merely presented alongside other information that can be used to inform a decision-making process. Numerous caveats are presented in score reports discouraging the establishment or use of “cutoff” scores based on AI-derived or any other results. Instead, a balanced review and analysis process is recommended to ensure employment decisions take all available information into account rather than be focused on any one criterion. In our view, having additional inputs into this process based on responsibly developed AI adds to this process and results in better and more fair decisions.

Custom Test Builder
- For clients who have their own unique test questions, we offer a custom test builder at no additional charge. Customers can combine HR Avatar assessments with their own custom assessments to ensure they get the information they need for each applicant.
Recorded Video Interviews
Scheduling phone interviews take time, and after all the scheduling effort, candidates don't always show up. Use a pre-recorded interview to save your time and the candidate's time. Automated Reference Checks
An automated reference check is a multi-rater survey for your candidate. The candidate enters the name and contact info for 2 - 8 past supervisors and co-workers, who then complete a customized, (usually 5 minute) survey regarding their experience and observations while working with the candidate. We'll compile all of the rater's responses into a detailed, actionable report that can help you make better hiring decisions.

Remote Test Proctoring
Remote test administration saves time and money. However, how can you be sure the right person actually took the test if it was conducted remotely? To provide peace of mind, we offer a large variety of options ranging from photo and ID capture, to video recording, and live video monitoring. Our system can monitor for suspicious test taker activity and store collected information alongside test results. These features are extremely popular since they help ensure the integrity of your testing program.
Initial Photo Capture
- We capture candidate photo and ensure we recognize the face before the test begins.
ID Capture
- We can request the candidate to photograph their government issued ID. Optionally, we can require that the photo match the photo of them taken beforehand during the testing process.
Continuous Photos or Video
- We can capture either photos or video (with audio) of the candidate while they are taking the test. Both can be recorded and presented alongside test results. Video can be monitored remotely in real time. Both are also processed using artificial intelligence to detect a missing face, a new face, multiple faces, or other suspicious test-taker behavior.
Suspicious Activity Monitoring
- We can monitor the candidate's behaviors to determine if suspicious activity is present. This includes changing browser windows, using other applications, and various visual movements.
Locked-down Web Browser
- For certain high-stakes testing, a locked down web browser can be required that disables all other features of a computer while the test is being conducted.
Integrated Assessments
If you use ADP Workforce Now® Next Generation Recruitment, you can initiate HR Avatar assessments and view score reports from within ADP. HR Avatar will monitor the appropriate data fields and determine when an assessment has been requested for a specific candidate. HR Avatar will then send the candidate an invitation and will administer the assessment. When the test is complete, the results are posted to ADP and can be viewed as part of the applicant record.
